The chance of a lifetime…

But first…
Dulltown, Europe: Today’s heraldic term is ‘panache’ – a plume of feathers, usually ostrich feathers set upright and borne as a crest. (Panache)
If I had a coat of arms I’d definitely get a panache to go on top of it.

‘It’s Carol isn’t it?’
‘Yes sir…’
‘Now, the reason I’ve asked you to drop in to see me Carol, is that I’ve decided to give you a little job that will greatly advance your career in this organisation, and of course in journalism in general.’
‘Oh yes? That sounds great sir…’
‘Yes it does…’
‘So, what will I be doing?’
‘Well, as you may know, ex-Prime Minister and international statesman Tony Blair will be in town next week and has offered us a half hour window in his busy schedule; I want you to go to his hotel on Tuesday afternoon and do a short interview with him…’
‘What’s the matter? You don’t sound very pleased Carol – this is a wonderful opportunity for you…’
‘Yes… I suppose…’
‘Look Carol, I’m doing you a big favour here – you don’t seem to realise…’
‘Oh yes, I know… but I’d rather not…’
‘Oh?… Why, for goodness sake?’
‘Well sir, I don’t think I could stand to look at his fixed skull-like insincere grin, and those weird little staring eyes for more than a minute or two… he’s so very creepy…’
‘Yes sir?’
‘Yes, you’re right, he is very creepy… I er…’
‘Yes sir?’
‘Well I must confess that the reason I asked you to do the interview, was that everyone else in the office turned it down…’
‘Ah, I’m not surprised… I get it now… so what will you do then sir?’
‘Oh we just won’t send anybody… sod him!…’
‘I’m sorry sir…’
‘No, no, Carol, I completely understand… in your place I wouldn’t go either…’
