Some smallish items…

But first…
Dulltown, Europe: Today’s local village name that sounds like an insult is Burstwick. (B)
‘So, how’s young Tony, that new boyfriend of yours?’
‘He’s not my boyfriend, he’s an absolute burstwick!…’

Excuses for being late. No. 211.
I’m sorry I’m late, but I accidentally left my keys under my cloak of invisibility.

Vince Cable is a politician? – I thought it was a special sort of computer lead… (V.C.)

‘Yes dear?’
‘I had a dream about the future…’
‘Oh yes?’
‘Yes, in the future they still had films to watch, but they didn’t have any films about people killing each other.’
‘That’s silly dear, we will always like films about people killing each other…’
‘Hm… s’pose…’

A single overheard remark:
‘Take your hands off and hold your fork!…’

‘The people who resist change, are the ones that change the most…’
Professor Mouldie.

An observation:
I see in Waterstones bookshop, in the music section, the biography of Captain Beefheart is nestling next to that of Justin Bieber. They are both looking very uncomfortable and are visibly squirming on their shelf…

This morning I spent twenty minutes darning two holes in my favourite old woolly jumper – I listened to four tracks from the Velvet Underground on YouTube as I darned, including the saddest song in the world, ‘Pale Blue Eyes’. I love the ‘bad’ guitar playing which drifts uneasily between country scale and blues scale – beautiful!
Eat your hearts out you bland present day singer-songwriter strummers… (V.U.)

Well, I’ve grown this moustache and beard, but I just can’t decide whether to be kempt or not…

A single overheard remark:
‘It’s me, my arms over your head!…’
