Stinks and Zen…

But first…
Dulltown, Europe: Today’s existential angst is centred around the idea of dark matter.

These two items are from those dark days when my early blogging was done on something called ‘Myspace’.

Post office stinks:
Yesterday I was waiting in the Dulltown city centre post office; I needed to buy some stamps; a well dressed middle-aged couple were standing next to me in the queue. Though quite calm and pleasant with each other they were however fighting out a vicious olfactory battle on a higher plane of consciousness.
Her powerful heady almond and sandalwood perfume was silently but effectively being rebuffed and thwarted by the thrusting citrus and ‘new car upholstery’ of his cologne. I can’t imagine what their bathroom smells like first thing in the morning… actually yes, I can…
As a background to these competing odours the newly laid post office carpet was also adding its own fumes to the mix – chemicals, with a delicate hint of fish and vinegar – it was smell hell in the post office yesterday…

Shop window Zen:
Two little grinning Buddha statues sit on display in a local shop window.
They would be identical except that one of them has some sparkling coloured jewels decorating its base.
There are no price tags on them, but I expect that the one without the jewels will be far more precious than the other.
