Mail Art Postcard No. 4516…

But first…
Dulltown, Europe: Today’s fine C 18th. English expletive is ‘Odds whipps and wheels!’ (From Sheridan’s play The Rivals.) A nice one I think; perhaps I’ll try to slip it into conversation today…

No, it’s alright dear reader, it’s just another of my recent mail art postcards. This one is number 4516 in the grand series.
It is ‘postcard size’ of course, and is a simple collage on fluorescent card of a couple of images snipped from an old copy of that cheapskate British TV listings magazine What’s On TV.
Eye-catching isn’t it? I think it works well because of the combination of the calculating intelligence in those human female eyes and the red-in-tooth-and-claw grin of our cheeky feline friend.
I’ve mentioned this before, but it always surprises me how readily we accept such things – a pair of eyes crudely stuck on to a different face, and we easily accept the image. Yes, we know that the eyes and face don’t match, but we still can’t help but mentally tie them together and immediately see a newly created meaningful facial expression there…
Interesting isn’t it?… Is it?…
