Mail Art Postcard No. 4519…

But first…
Dulltown, Europe: Today’s featured letter of the alphabet is the capital ‘A’.
A very stable and useful letter is the capital ‘A’ – if one of the other letters happens to fall over you can sometimes use the ‘A’ as shear legs to get it back up on its feet, if it has any. (SL)

I think that it might be time for another of my ‘collage on fluorescent’ mail art postcards:

4519Ho ho!… This is a favourite one of mine from my recent cards.
The cutting comes from that cheapskate TV listings magazine What’s On TV  and is advertising some new series called Fortitude, with good solid old Michael Gambon in it. I’m afraid I know nothing about it, but it does look pretty cold and miserable, and is probably not a barrel of laughs – I expect it has plenty of British-style ‘serious’ acting and shouting in it. Just look at their actorish faces! I wouldn’t be drawn to watch that at all – still, a lot of people do like to see that sort of suffering as they loll on their plush soft sofas, stuffing their faces with junk food, in front of their massive glaring TVs…
I couldn’t resist changing the gloomy expression on that chap’s face. He’s now not part of the solemn gritty mood of the piece is he? Not at all a ‘team player’… Michael is murmuring to himself, ‘There’s something not right here, and I don’t quite know what it is…’
Ho ho!… Again…

Grumpy old surrealist artist, musician, postcard maker, bluesman, theatre set designer, and debonair man-about-town. My favourite tools are the plectrum and the pencil...
