Just grass and stripes…

But first…
Dulltown, Europe: Today’s rather dull expletive is Begob!… an old English euphemism for ‘By God’… It’s hardly worth uttering really…

DSCN4027Oh, I don’t know!…
Is this an interesting photo… or not?…
No cute big-eyed white kittens, or pretty girls with lovely even white smiling teeth here; it’s just a grubby street corner in Leeds town centre here in Yorkshire. Would you give this a glance, or would you think, why on earth would somebody take a boring picture like that?…
But then again, I suppose if you imagine it blown up, on a posh gallery wall, perhaps in Tate Modern, in crisp bright colour, to about four metres by three, it might attract the eye, and seem, yes… ‘interesting’ – a chap could stand in front of it and slowly stroke his beard, or a lady could stand viewing it, hand on hip, and tap a forefinger against her pouting ruby lips, deep in aesthetic appreciation…
So, why did I bother?
Well, I suppose I was seeing it as a composition, perhaps as something like a ‘found painting’ – alright, the dirty brown tiles on the wall and pavement are pretty unpleasant, (isn’t it odd that they seem to have used the same material for both? Perhaps it is the local stone?) Oh, and that alcove – I expect midnight drunks often like to urinate in there, but my eye was caught by those mad red and white stripes to the right, and to the left, the black framed image of… grass. Yes, I think it’s grass, possibly shot from above, or maybe it’s a close-knit privet hedge… Anyway, I just liked the contrast between the two; one at each side. Does it balance?… Mm, I think so… I wonder what’s inside the striped wooden box?…
Ah, but I have managed to spin this commentary out to about 250 words…
Good, that’s me done for the day… (Quickly exits stage left to put the kettle on…)
