Mail Art Postcard No. 4461…

But first…
Dulltown, Europe: Today’s weather will feature raspberry skies, hailstones shaped like tetrahedra, tubular clouds, and big birds in little raincoats.

WP F 4461No, really, it is amazing… and it’s true too!…
No, no, I jest, this is just another of my silly mail art postcards, a couple of snippets from that awful cheap British TV listings magazine What’s On TV stuck on a piece of nice bright fluorescent card.

These are interesting items of furniture, don’t you think; and look at these two attractive blandly dressed middle-aged models grinning away at each other, I wonder if they specialise in chair and sofa advertising? Perhaps he is saying, ‘Hey, look at me Maureen, I’m so, so, comfortable, I could sit here all day! I think I’ll wiggle my toes in my comfy new beige slippers for a few minutes. Hm, that feels really snugly and nice…’
Perhaps his nice lady friend is replying, ‘Yes Bernard, and see, I didn’t even intend to get up, I just thought about it for an instant and this clever chair detected my thoughts and quickly elevated me to my feet… Isn’t modern life marvellous?…’
Of course these people are obviously the wrong models for the advert. People who look like this don’t buy this sort of stuff, this furniture is designed for great big obese people who spend all day lolling in front of the TV drinking beer, smoking cigarettes, and eating greasy crap, but of course if the company had models like that they wouldn’t shift many units…
No, no, sorry, I really am being rather unfair here; this furniture is designed for well-off old folk, people whose joints and muscles are not as good as they used to be… Actually, they do look pretty comfortable and functional. Hm, I wonder how much a nice leather lift-you-up chair like that would cost?…
