No, sorry everyone, this isn’t art…

But first…
Dulltown, Europe: Today’s Sir Arthur Conan Doyle quotation is from The Sign of Four:
Sherlock Homes took his bottle from the corner of the mantelpiece, and his hypodermic syringe from its neat morocco case. With his long, white, nervous fingers he adjusted the delicate needle and rolled back his left shirtcuff. For some time his eyes rested thoughtfully upon the sinewy forearm and wrist, all dotted and scarred with innumerable puncture marks…

DSCN4129As you see my dear reader, I have given this piece the title – No, sorry everyone, this isn’t art, but it does look quite interesting doesn’t it? Ah, but as it now exists as a photograph, I suppose that it is art after all, but not ‘intentional art’. It caught my eye because it reminded me of my recent adventures in ‘spatter painting’, some of which you might have admired here in these pages. Spatter.
So, what is it? Well, there were several of these on exhibition (this, I thought, was the best one); they were fastened to the steel fence around a large medical supplies factory here in Dulltown. This is what happens when you do photocopies of a poster that desperately needs to be displayed, you put the copies in a clear A4 ‘plastic pockets’, and then hang them up outdoors… in all weathers…
Pretty, isn’t it? A lovely effect! It seems to be in the style of some 1960s psychedelic band’s album cover. By the way I have no idea what an ESH CDM Area is, but it does sound like a fun place to be… Cool!… Groovy!… But they obviously don’t want just anyone popping in uninvited…
