No, sorry everyone, this isn’t art…

But first…
Dulltown, Europe: Today’s financial forecast is for oil to get even more sloppy, the markets to nudge each other and chuckle, the FTSE to sneeze and reach for a tissue, and for coins in pockets to feel more slippery than usual.

DSCN4193No, it isn’t art, but it does look good doesn’t it?
I can’t recall where I took this picture, but it definitely wasn’t here in Dulltown – it might have been in Leeds or perhaps Halifax – not that it matters of course.
Do you think we should speculate on how this very interesting image was produced dear reader?
Well, it is a bit of a puzzle isn’t it? That crackling in the purple to me suggests paint that has been exposed to sunlight for a long time. Question: Is the paint, if it is paint… (Oh, perhaps it is some sort of stick-on acrylic sheet? Plastic would probably craze like that under the effect of sunlight.) is on the inside, or the outside of the glass?
Perhaps it is on the outside, and some frustrated ne’er-do-well has come up with a marker pen and written something unpleasant, or done an obscene drawing on it – and then at a later stage, someone else, perhaps an employee of the phone company has arrived with a little scraper and (not very thoroughly) obliterated the work, so that passers by should not be offended.
That’s my theory, but I’m open to suggestions…
But isn’t it a classy, vibrant, free-flowing piece of work? For me it’s the combination of the crazing and the scraping that does the trick…

  1. Its an abstract bird in flight……flying left to right. And its actually tumbling through the evening sky, thanks to the loss of its main flight feather which has worked itself loose somehow. Possibly by an inflight fight with another bird. So its struggling to regain its dignity in the air. So its a story of composure and balance against adversity……(good grief, where DID that all come from? I’ve only just got back from town!)

Flying purple people eater? With a loose feather in the top right corner? And a black heart…..

  3. Random aside: Just listening to “Desert Rose” by Sting and the (misheard) lyrics “I think of love each time I chew my head” Just had to share, because I’m giggling like a loon here! 😀

    Definitely a lost crow. (K)
