Mail Art Postcard No. 4503…

WP F 4503Whaa! Get back you brute!…
Is this a bit too disturbing for you?…
No no, it’s alright dear reader, it’s just another of my mail art postcards, a simple collage using a couple of clippings from that cheapskate UK TV listings magazine What’s On TV.
Oh, messing the eyes about on people’s faces is so effective don’t you think? So little effort involved for such a dramatic and nicely surreal result.
So, who are these chaps? They are obviously actors – look how ‘serious’ they are.
I don’t know, but I would guess that they are the stars of some current soap opera or emotion-filled cop drama. Whoever they are, I notice that all three are not too keen on shaving – and just look at the two hunks at the back desperately trying to get their eyes to smoulder in a sexy way, and they are almost pouting. It’s a funny word is ‘pouting’, sounds like a cross between ‘boating’ and ‘punting’, but I digress…
I think this composition works so well because of the juxtaposition (another super word!) of the almost smiling avuncular gent with the stubble, and his female stick-on eyes – now, those eyes do smoulder! If you cover up the eyes he doesn’t seem threatening at all – how very odd…
What a trio! I don’t think I’d bother to watch their show though, whatever it is…

I have to say, the one with the big eyes is quite cute…

  2. Hmm, the fellow in the centre looks a bit grim. Those eyes though…..hmm, yes the picture is slightly disconcerting….I lost my train of thought now, ha!
