But first…
Dulltown, UK: Today’s dictionary words are: bobstays, bobbery, boko, bolide, bolection, boma, and chitwah. Please have these words looked up and placed in suitable sentences ready for Professor Mouldie first thing after breakfast tomorrow morning. Should the professor turn up wearing a fake black moustache and dressed as Freddie Mercury from Queen, you must not remark on or draw attention to this.

dscn4321‘Oh god Dave, is this yet another of your so-called Spatter Paintings – don’t you think we’ve seen enough of them by now?…’
Well no, it isn’t, but it could be one I suppose; anyway, looking at a bit of spatter every now and again is good for you, and it stimulates the old brain…
So, I was nipping through the Dulltown Railway Station (sorry, the Hull Interchange) car park when I spotted on the north side (hence the mossy mouldy growth) of the old Tower cinema (now a nightclub) this area of neglected pavement where there had been some sort of white milky spillage. Of course, I paused, and I whipped out my little camera, I can’t resist a nice bit of spillage! Click!…
Yes, I deliberately included that dirty dark edge at the bottom of the frame because I knew that it would look like the horizon, if you were to imagine the spattered concrete part as a sky. Is this a dramatic thermal night-scope shot of when those three alien craft let loose their deadly neutron beam rays at the city of Dulltown back in 2018?
Gosh, what a night that was! And, there was the Eurovision Song Contest on TV that night too! Ah, happy days… happy days…

About Dave Whatt

Grumpy old surrealist artist, musician, postcard maker, bluesman, theatre set designer, and debonair man-about-town. My favourite tools are the plectrum and the pencil...

A few very short years ago, I was an editor for a university’s art and literary journal – reviewing photographic submissions without challenging why or whether the piece constitutes “art” was always a sticky gray area…..but I see what you did there professor mustache! However, once you suggested the image was a severe blasting by neutron beams…well, now, that’s all I see! It’s rather nice to look at!

It is nice to look at isn’t it?
Some Renaissance chap, it might have been Vasari or Leonardo, or some such, once remarked how beautiful the old green urine stains on a particular wall were.

  2. yes I do like this – although it looks less like neutron beams, and more like a white monster blob with wavy arms coming to Godzilla the town! (And yes, Godzilla is a verb, in my world….!)
