Mail Art Postcard No. 4631…

But first…
Dulltown, UK: Today’s honoured guests are the Salvador Dali lookalike twins, Sandra and Clive Buttermouth. Come on in you two, join us on the sofa! I see you have matching halves of the same moustache… Excellent!…
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

No, but really… Imagine being indoctrinated from an early age into believing that you are extremely special, a cut above everyone else, it’s all in the blood you know, passed down from generation to generation, no common blood here, born to grow up as one of the elite, who for hundreds of years have ruled the land and used the sycophantic and patriotic common herd for whatever purpose they fancied…
Yes, it’s another of my Mail Art postcards, albeit one with a serious subtext (did I just use the word ‘subtext’? I didn’t think I’d ever get around to using that word!) – a simple collage using clippings from that awful British TV listings magazine What’s On TV.
But, imagine being her – a unique person in the world – she can’t be sane, can she? What can her world view be like? How does she see herself? Normal people tend to compare themselves with others, and gain reassurance that they are like, or not like, the other people they see around them – HMQ doesn’t have that, she is on her own. No, really she must be bonkers!
Maybe she’s never been very bright (inbreeding perhaps?). Maybe she never questioned the odd position she has been placed in? Or, maybe she is very intelligent and has long ago realised that there is no way out of the hell that she occupies – and that she is stuck with it… Poor thing!…
By the way, it is HMQ’s birthday today – happy birthday Your Majesty…

About Dave Whatt

Grumpy old surrealist artist, musician, postcard maker, bluesman, theatre set designer, and debonair man-about-town. My favourite tools are the plectrum and the pencil...

I’m sure she put it all in a little compartment, permanently locked, long ago.

  2. Hmmm, yes Happy Burpday Lizzy, may all your dreams come true….oh wait, they have already?, oh well. yes, Dave, must be awful being the Queen. I did read a book once about herself and family ending up on a council estate. It was amusing to think of that. I do wonder how she must feel though, never being able to wander down the high street, or sit in a cafe with a weak sweet coffee, people watching. Mind you, she can’t vote or have much of say in anything at all, apart from give tight smiles and wave her hand graciously. I prefer Mary & Fred, from Denmark, who are more down to earth as a royal family. 😀

humm…..waaay over here we don’t have the monarchy….we have the uber-wealthy untouchables though…doesn’t matter what they do, the press anoints their activities as legitimate and the masses drool over them as if they were, well, royalty……..because they’re rich, …Zuckerberg’s birthday isn’t yet a national holiday.
