Mail Art Postcard No. 4652…

But first…
Dulltown, UK: Today’s heraldic term is pile – an ordinary consisting of a triangular wedge with one side along the top of the shield. I wanted the pile removed from my shield, but the College of Arms said that it was too deeply set in to come out and that I’d have to learn to live with it.

What the hell is this all about Dave?
Well, it’s another of my mail art postcards, a simple collage (You can hardly call it a collage can you? I mean, you’ve only added that text clipping!) using cuttings from that awful TV listings magazine What’s On TV.
These two definitely look like actors – ordinary people never look like that in photos do they?
Come on you two, I want you to, no, never mind lunch, just look straight at the lens, and pretend that you are actually thinking about something other than food… Right, that’s good… get ready… and… act!… Click!… Darlings, that was marvellous!…

The chap reminds me of someonewho does he resemble? Ah, of course, he’s got a touch of Mulder out of the early X-Files about him – see, he’s attempting to smoulder like Mulder smouldered, but he hasn’t quite got it has he? I don’t know who these people are or what the show is that they are advertising, but judging by the lady with the playfully knowing smile‘s hair style, it is set in the 1960s – I could be wrong though. If you know what this drama is please don’t bother getting in touch to tell me, I really couldn’t give a monkey’s. (G a M) I don’t think I could ever watch such a thing…
So, what about “Outstanding Scented Patio” Dave?
What about it?
Well… what does it mean?
It’s surrealism…’
Oh… Alright…

About Dave Whatt

Grumpy old surrealist artist, musician, postcard maker, bluesman, theatre set designer, and debonair man-about-town. My favourite tools are the plectrum and the pencil...

The guy looks like his head got squeezed or something, and what’s going on with that one eyebrow…? The photo looks like it’s for an ‘intestional distress’ product ad.
