Sorry, what was that again?…

But first…
Dulltown, UK: Today’s expletive from the USA, a euphemism for God almighty! is, or was, (perhaps it is no longer in use?) Hot diggety doggety!…
Perhaps I’ll try slipping it into conversation today and see how it is received…
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I was eating a slice of buttered toast the other morning; the news was on the TV, I wasn’t really paying attention, but a suited journalist was discussing some stupid thing that some pop star, sports person, politician, had just done. As I said, I wasn’t really listening, but a phrase happened to slide into my consciousness – We can expect grim repercussions…
I thought, Oh they sound nice, I’ve never seen any of those… they would be quite good as a ‘conversation piece’… I could do with a couple of them on my sofa, to brighten the place up – I’ll bet that they are the sort of things that Goths would have in their austere little monochrome dwellings – do Goths have a sense of humour? I’ve met some who have – I think I might look online and see if these novel items are currently available on Amazon…

Of course, I had misheard – no, not misheard – I had heard quite clearly – I misconstrued the phrase and managed to conjure up in my head a new line in soft furnishings – We can expect Grim Reaper Cushions.

I took the idea to the cafe later in the day and as I drank tea and toyed with a piece of Belgian chocolate cake with squirty cream on it, I did a little drawing in my notebook. The drawing was just in ballpoint pen of course, I coloured it in with pencil crayons later when I got home.
I suppose one could call these Pun Cushions – just to compound the thing and squeeze every drop of humour and cleverness from a pretty daft idea…
Art is often something made out of nothing, or if not nothing, something small and fleeting…

PS: By the way, that’s not really my sofa, nor is that my wallpaper – they are made up, I’m using my trusty old artistic license here.

Grim reaper cushions! I’ve never heard of them….although I could use a few to ward the animals off the settee! Which reminds me of dogs….. I do believe the saying is shorter….more like, “hot diggety dog.” I know you’re too young and European to remember this but…..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zahYUpDgfWs I think Perry was drunk.
