Mail Art Postcard No. 4528…

But first…
Dulltown, UK: Today’s carefully selected adjectives are: lethargic, sponsal, lozenged, collenchymatous, bathmic, sextodecimos, and rotund.
Hm, I do like the sound of ‘bathmic’ – I’ve already forgotten what it means, I must look it up again…

Yet another of my mail art postcards dear reader – a simple collage on bright card using clippings from that thoroughly dreary UK TV listings magazine What’s On TV.
Me, I find this image surprisingly unpleasant.
There’s something about the smile – the little bugger seems to be smiling in a rather smug, and conniving way, as if he is well aware of his cuteness – as if this beast is standing on your doorstep trying to interest you in house insurance, religion, switching your energy supplier, a time-share apartment in Spain – or to persuade you to have your drive (I refuse to call them driveways! We’ve called them ‘drives’ for centuries, why we have to go all American about it I don’t know!) re-paved.
I’m not sure if it’s just the mouth souring the image for me, or whether it’s the combination of the mouth and those staring human eyes. As you might know, I’m not very good on wildlife. Is this a panda? I think it probably is – apparently people love pandas, they go all gooey and giggly watching their antics. (‘Antics’ is a great word isn’t it?) I think the reason I was, in the previous line, a bit hesitant on deciding what kind of animal this is, is that the first thing you notice about pandas is that they are always a bit heavy-handed with the eye makeup – of course those eyes that I have glued on have covered up his efforts with the eye-liner and mascara, so the familiar panda trademark eyes weren’t available.
Every time I glance up as I type and spot him, he make me shudder. Mm, it’s that expression he has – the words both ‘manipulative’ and ‘cloying’ spring to mind…

    Don’t upset yourself, Dave.
    You created it. Frankenpanda!

Haha, I like what Jheron says, I can’t improve on that.
