But first…
Dulltown, UK: Today’s carefully selected adjectives are: booming, theodicean, inviolable, bryological, kittly, primulaceous, and rocking.

No, really, some people, writers, dramatists, do find it difficult to dish out interesting names to the characters they have created – I’ve seen them fretting for hours trying to come up with suitable ones. If you suggest one to them they either say, ‘No, no, that’s far too ordinary!’, or they’ll say, ‘What! Who’s ever heard of real person called that! It sounds bloody ridiculous!’
I’ve seen them sitting staring at phone books running their fingers up and down the pages, sighing and muttering expletives under their breath.
However, it would seem that a few people can come up with good memorable character names with not much sweat involved. Veronica Crush, writer from the glory days of the Hull Surrealist League, now living in New York with tall tree surgeon and heir to a multimillion dollar fortune, Monty Tick, is one of those. Actually, just thinking about it, ‘Monty Tick’ sounds to me a bit like it could be one of her made-up names – but no, it can’t be! Can it?…
Anyway, here is another bunch of them she has just sent me – feel free to dip in dear reader if you are in desperate need of a couple. By the way, Veronica has again mischievously slipped a real person’s name into the list – see if you can guess which one it is.
