It’s just a picture of coldness…

But first…

Well, here’s a picture from January – funny though, I don’t remember it feeling as cold as it looks here – ah, we so easily forget. Forgetfulness is probably built into us by our evolution so that we don’t torture ourselves during the balmy summer by thinking of the chilblains and nippiness to return in just a few short months…

This photo shows parts of a bus stop as which I regularly wait.
Photographic notes:
How do you like my splitting the composition slap down the middle? Well, not exactly ‘slap’ is it? The thin vertical white line is pretty close to centre, so that’ll do I think. The bright day off to the right, the crusty dark with iciness to the left – it is reasonably interesting I suppose.
Hey, you see the vertical line of wind blown snow or frost clinging to the bus shelter on the extreme left of the frame? Well I used that as the camera focussing point for the whole thing, but when I later looked at the picture that very strip seemed a bit out of focus and blurry, but then if you look closer you can actually see the ice crystals – they’re not perfectly sharp, but you can see ’em. The similar strip of clinging ice to its right looks sharper, but on closer examination it isn’t – it is quite quite fluffy and indistinct… Hm, that is odd…
The car buzzing off into the white mist is nice isn’t it? I waited, gloved finger on the shutter button for one of those to go past… Click…
There we go. Not a great picture dear reader, but it does have a couple of good points, even if it only makes you shiver…

I like the continued vertical lines of foreground and background across the image. And the ice texture is awesome.

  2. I like the accents of yellow that read across the picture. The warm intensifies the chill scene plus it balances the verticals. I like this photo a lot.
