Ps, Bs, and Kebabs…

But first…
Dulltown, UK/Europe: Today’s financial forecast is for economic growth to peak magnificently just as the earth decides to crawl away and die.

Here’s a picture I took, er, excuse me, captured, back in March.
Hm… I’m not sure about this one. It doesn’t have much to say does it? Well, apart from Pizzas, Burgers, and Kebabs of course.
The colours are reasonably interesting I suppose, but there is rather a lot of drab grey taking up the space. But then, there are those human brush marks on the grey shutter that might catch the eye. I reckon that the shutter was originally that dark grey, and when the takeaway closed down and relocated, the people who ran it might have been ordered by the owner of the building to paint over and calm down their own rather gaudy paint job, the theme of which was bright jumping eye-catching orange.
You can see at the top where some of the orange has been quickly daubed with grey in a very sloppy and half-hearted manner. Why they would bother treating the dark grey shutter as well is a bit of a mystery – perhaps the chaps were just angry at having to do it, and made the shop as ugly and unappealing as possible? Yes, I’m sure that was it!
You know, that shutter on its own could almost qualify as being one of my ‘This is Not Art‘ series of photographs – a ‘TINA’ as I now refer to them. I’ve seen far worse brushwork than this in art posh galleries.
So there it is dear reader. What does it mean? Is there meaning in this photograph?
I don’t know. How long could you stand to look at this for? Suppose you drifted into an art gallery one day, out of the rain – and saw this, expertly printed up to about two metres square, and tastefully lit, on the pure white white wall? Big things are always more impressive than small ones, we all know that. Would you give it a couple of minutes of your time?
Hm, I’m not sure I would…

If Andy Warhol had reproduced this image it would have made millions.
