Me, I do like Avenger-Trek…

But first…
Dulltown, UK/Europe: Today’s existential angst is for some reason centred around the sound of the word barnacle.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I suppose they are a bit like wallpaper…
You know – they are not something you watch seriously, you’ve seen them all before, you can even predict the lines and scenes that are coming up, but it is nice to have them there in the room with you – you know, whilst you are idly glancing through a copy of What’s On TV or perhaps strumming some Lou Reed chords on your battered old acoustic guitar.
What am I talking about?
Yes, the ever continuing re-runs of those two landmark popular TV shows from the 1960s, the original British The Avengers, and the original US Star Trek series.
Sometimes when episodes of both are showing simultaneously on different channels, and your left hand starts aching from thrashing through Waiting for My Man, you can pick up the remote and flick too-and-fro between them, and yes, enjoy both at once!

‘Captain’s log Stardate 2817 point 6.’
‘He he he he!…’
‘Scotty here Captain…’
‘It’s uncanny, a bad omen!’
‘His force of will is rapidly failing Captain.’
‘That’s quite impossible Mr Steed!’
‘I’ll grab him by the scruff of the neck!’
‘I’ll bash him over the head if you like Mrs Peel.’
‘Induced by blind terror?…’
‘I think there’s a draught coming from somewhere in here…’
‘What about the men on the planet’s surface?’
‘Mrs Peel is keeping watch Mr Steed.’
‘We can’t help you Jim, the decision is yours!’
‘What? The ghost took Mrs Peel!…’
‘I have a tie-in with Sulu now sir.’
‘You could read a newspaper through him!’
‘I’ll come to your cabin later…’
‘My dear fellow!…’
‘I’ll be glad when all this is over Spock.’
‘It’s certainly a funny business!’
‘It’s my ship! It’s mine!…’
‘An unnecessary piece of theatre on your part!’
‘Prepare to leave orbit!…’
