Reeds, rushes, grasses? Not sure…

But first…
Dulltown, UK/Europe: Today’s elephant in the room is the embarrassed one who has just sat down, squashing the host’s new and expensive red leather Chesterfield flat to the floor – what a crack it made when it went!…

Here’s a photograph I took back in April this year.

There is a winding river that drains down from the north through Dulltown, it separates East Dulltown from West Dulltown, it’s called the River Hull – mind you, if this was the USA it would be called the ‘Hull River’. It’s odd that, isn’t it? The ‘Hudson River’ and the  ‘Mississippi River’ are never the ‘River Hudson’ and the ‘River Mississippi’ are they? How did all that come about then? Someone must have at sometime done some research into this…
Where was I?…
Ah, yes, that’s where I was – it was a bright spring afternoon, I was walking across one of the bridges over this river when I glanced down and saw this bunch of… what are they? Reeds? Water reeds? Rushes, grasses? I know nothing of such botanical things.
But they were very busy shining gold in the late afternoon sun, and they also had some muddy water off to one side which was trying to conceal its brown muddiness by reflecting the lovely blue sky.
Hm… yes… I thought, and I straightway got my little camera out. Click! it went…

This isn’t really my style of photography is it dear reader? It’s a bit too nice and pretty for me, and it seems to be about the loveliness of nature – not really my thing at all.
But, hang on – just looking at the picture sitting there on the page as I type away, I keep thinking that it could actually be a snatched very close-up shot of President Donald Trump’s head as he struts past…

Nice composition. Then you have to spoil it by mentioning Trump – but you’re right! Trouble is, I can’t unsee that image now ….
