Some song lyrics misheard over the cafe hubbub…

But first…
Dulltown, UK/Europe: Today’s ancient British expletive is Od’s Bodkins! A corruption of ‘God’s body’.
In 19th c. ‘flash’ or slang another ‘Bodikin’ was also well-known as a contraction of ‘Bawdy-ken’ or brothel, perhaps making the oath a risqué pun for those in the know
. From the very interesting book: Bozzimacoo: Origins of Oaths and Swear Words by Mary Marshall [1975]
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

‘Gob spore, gob spore, gob spore, clow-oun, clow-oun.’
‘I wanna be seething on the vine now baby.’
‘Way me go – dancers pawned me bags!…’
‘I feel the dregs scrub me down girl!’
‘Gonna leave, tines tines – no no, I feel sagged.’
‘Whaa, whaa, whaa, whaa…’
‘I’m down with a frog-horn, I don’t have no feelin’…’
‘Come on girl – find a pun! Find a pun!’
‘Within the lamp of sparking foam, I’m happy as a harp.’
‘Walk away as a walrus – baby, this is the best thing!’
‘How up! Awah awah awah awah!’
‘The pale trap of the arrow – love you – you heel spot!’
‘Guppy high, my eye juice sighs, eye-e-eye, eye-e-eye.’
‘So much I was upty-way okay – give me an amelon.’
‘I drifted back to wires, it was a treat of knees…’
‘Strangeness changes, the oaf go slow moments…’
‘You ain’t got a Velásquez no more!…’
‘Just mimbo dips from a tightening morning…’
‘Forever strong, tubular girl, you kind of shine…’

  1. “I wanna be seething on the vine now baby” made me laugh! And Valasquez….I had to look that up. Interesting combination of lyrics 🙂
