Here is a photograph of mine, it’s from last December:

‘What’s this one about Dave?’
‘About? Oh, it’s all about, er, colour.’
Colour?’
‘Oh yes… colour.’
‘Gosh! Colour is so very important in your work, isn’t it Dave?’
‘No…’
‘No?…’
‘Yes, no…’

‘Would you call that colour turquoise, Dave?’
‘Would you like me to?’
‘Oh yes.’
‘That’s turquoise.’
‘What about the eye-catching black and yellow stripes Dave?’
‘What eye-catching black and yellow stripes?’
‘Those! Those on the left Dave!’
‘Oh those… What about them?’
‘Do you think this composition is a, a clever sort of balancing act, between, the large mass of turquoise, and the much smaller area of bright eye-catching stripes Dave?’
‘Sorry?… What stripes?’
‘On the left… there… they’re obvious!’
‘Oh those stripes… No.’
‘No, what?’
‘No, not a balancing act.’
‘Oh, but what can the small white element in the midst of the sea of turquoise be saying – saying, in the composition, Dave?’
‘In the midst? What time is it?’
‘So the white element is saying, “What time is it?”?…’
‘No… What time is it?… I have to go and wash a couple of t-shirts, and some socks…’
‘Would you like me to help?’
‘No… er, thank you…’
